It's Been Awhile

Here we go again! I haven't blogged forever and I really do love writing! Good excuses and a lot of good projects and things to show for it. Really! They will all come in due time to your computer screen!

As I sit here and write it is hard to believe that year 3 of the Greater Kansas City Myasthenia Gravis Walk Run and Roll is under our belts! Whew! What a fun fun weekend! We have raised just under $25,000 and had around 230 participants. Waiting on some official numbers but so awesome! We partnered with the Iowa State Alumni Club in Kansas City for Cy's Day of Service which brought out of sea of cardinal and gold.

There are so many words of appreciation and gratitude I want to say but seems like I am at a loss on how to say that.  There is nothing that I love more than seeing all of my family and friends come together to raise awareness for such an important cause.  I had a blast and loved having everybody here. Thank you does not say enough!

In true fashion, I woke up this morning and thought what am I going to do now? I have taken the day off work to rest but instead have been filling my calendar and planning for the fun spring and summer months ahead! Lots of fun and adventures to be had and spending it with those I love most! Cheers and thank you again!

My First As Seen on TV Purchase

Only purchased on the clearance aisle at Wal Mart..... Hell at 33 who doesn't need a tummy sucker iner?  We'll see if these stand up for their As Seen on TV reputation.....

Glorious

I just took 2 days off work plus the weekend which equaled 4 days of no work. It was glorious! Work has been overwhelming and then some and I was more than ready to shut it all off. I never can completely but you know what I mean! Mix in and little rest and a whole lot of shenanigans! Out to the ISU Alumni Happy Hour Wednesday night at Kelly's (love seeing old college friends) and then up and on the road by 6:30am Thursday to go to the bar for the Big 12 Tourney- not the brightest decision I've made recently but oh so fun! New patio furniture delivered on Friday, this yard is getting ready for some summer hang outs- now if the weather would just stay warm! Capping out the weekend with some Black Bean Butternut Squash Enchilada dinner, relaxing and reading.Doesn't get much better!

Man's Best Friend

I  have a dog at my house basically since the end of January.  You know I've been saying I wanted a dog so this has been great practice for me.  We've rotated in about 4 different dogs of different sizes and I've learned lots. I thought I'd give you a run down. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

What I've Learned from Man's Best Friend

1. Little Dogs have the biggest bite.
2. Sometimes dogs can really stink.
3. Having to let a dog out in the snow is a pain ins the a**.
4. Dogs increase my likelihood to take walks no matter how cold!
5. Dingleberrys. Never knew what they were before, thanks Kristine and Kerry.
6. Cleaning a dingleberry off a dogs behind = seriously disgusting. There are pictures. (thanks K & K) and thanks for the moral support.
7. Dogs can chew things like, your bathroom door.
8. Dogs like to sleep in the middle of the bed.
9. There is nothing like coming home to the excitement of a little furry friend going crazy to see YOU!
10. Dogs make their selves at home wherever they may be.
11. Giving a dog a bath can turn into giving yourself a bath.
12. Dog farts can clear a room.
13. Dogs chase rabbits out of my yard = YES!
14. Little doggies are the most controlling. Sorry Paisely.
15. Dogs hate the vacuum.
16. Having a dog means a little bit more cleaning.
17. Having a dog means you are protected from the mailman, the UPS man, the neighbor outside across the street.
18.  Dogs like to wait for you on the bathroom rug outside the shower.
19.  Dogs find joy in playing with the strangest things like my underwear left outside the shower. Gross!
 20. Doggies can have so much character & personality.  It's been fun!

Happy Sunday!

I feel like a church lady. Yesterday I made 2 "casseroles" to take to families at church who just had babies and then had to do my Sunday School class homework! At any rate today is Sunday Funday and I'm looking forward to spending the afternoon at Somerset Ridge Winery and Hillsdale BBQ unlike a church lady! Ha! However I saw this today and wanted to share! Happy Sunday!

Feel Good Notes

I saw this idea on Pinterest- to jot down good things & memories that happen throughout the year on pieces of paper and stuff in a jar.  Then in celebration of a new year you dump the jar out and reflect on all the great things that occurred throughout the last year.  So I started doing this on the first day of 2013! I love the number 7, not sure why?! Maybe because my birthday falls on the 7th?  I saw this jar at Tuesday morning for $2.99 so bought it for stuffing my "feel good notes!"  I can't wait to dump them out at the end of 2013......
