Feel Good Friday

My dear friends Brad and Kelli had this posted at the bar at their wedding reception recently and it totally made me crack up! Where were the signs like this in college?

Shoe Secret

I absolutely LOVE a good deal. I'm not afraid to use a coupon for this or for that or to sign up for an e-club just to be able to utilize a coupon! So when I spotted my dear friend Andrea wearing these fringe ankle boots one day at lunch I of course asked where she got them. Target, she said AND the kicker, they were little girls boots! Flash forward a few months and I'm at a wedding reception where I see a dear friend's daughter wearing these strappy gladiator sandals and learned she also got them at Target in the little girls section, I knew I needed to post these deals for you all! To save money on shoes, be sure you check out the girls section. The shoes are a bit cheaper. Sizing is as this, a girls size 4 is a women's size 6 and a girls size 5 is a women's size 7. If you don't wear a size 6 or 7 you might as well pass up on the shopping because they are likely not going to fit.

Oh yah, and because I'm a follower I own both of these pairs of shoes now! Super excited to see what Fall shoes finds Target offers for little girls women with small feet in the next month.

Happy Shopping!

The Journey

Several funny and strange things have occurred to me this week. First of all, I had to take my car in the shop for a recall and they loaned me a truck. Yes, a truck. I couldn't stop laughing. Later in the week, I got an email from Wedding Wire congratulating me on my engagement. Again, couldn't stop laughing. What in the world? The next day I got a postcard in the mail from a specific children's dentist letting me know they were taking new patients. Nice, but no children here.

And then I came across this article.  And I loved it. So true.  Because essentially it boils down to this. People have so many expectations on how your life is going to play out. They expect you to go to college, get married, have babies, have grandchildren. And if it doesn't turn out that way, they question, they drill you, they make comments like you will "never have JOY in your life until you are a mother," or "I just want you to be happy and you need those things to be happy." (Sidenote, yes, both of those statements have been made to me by people I thought were my friends at one time in my life)

Life is all about rolling with the punches, laughing at the mistakes, being your own person, embracing change and being open to what comes your way. You never know where your journey is going to take you. And just the same, you never know where another journey is going to take them so quit expecting, buckle up and enjoy the ride!

Blackberry Cobbler

I had some blackberries that needed to be finished up and eaten this week and decided to turn them into something very sweet.  This Blackberry Cobbler recipe is amazing. Top with some whipped cream and you have yourself an amazing dessert!

Being Seen

Early in June Pastor Jon preached about his personal experiences of being bullied as a youngster. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. It was one of the most profound sermons I have ever listened to. Since hearing that sermon, I have been left with the question of what I am doing to make sure others are being seen, being heard, being treated with respect.  I will be the first to say I wasn't always nice to people as a child and I'm not always probably nice to people as an adult.  This sermon made me really think about how we treat others and what we can do to others to make sure they are welcomed. In this season, where unfortunately people feel that a certain presidential candidate who makes fun of women, those with special needs & those of another race would be a fine representative for our nation, I think it's time for each of us to examine how we treat others and what we do to make them feel welcome.  Lessons we should have learned so early on in life that are even more important today. I urge you to take 20 minutes out of your day and listen to this.

Banana Bread

My mama has a great Banana Bread recipe that I make all the time! In fact I made two loaves on this rainy Saturday.  The thing is I love bananas but I hate sweet bread so as life would have it I often have bananas that are overripe that I freeze and use to make banana bread. It makes a great gift or a quick breakfast when you have company.
