Can we all agree that the video of Scott Siepker on "Iowa Nice" is one of the best things ever? I crack up whenever I think of it!
While I didn't get to take many spring travels this year I did make a quick trip to Des Moines for a baby shower which allowed me to experience some of Iowa Nice in Des Moines. Thanks to
hotels.com for a very cheap stay at the
Marriott and free
Lyft credits, I couldn't have asked for more as far as lodging and travel once I got to Des Moines! BTW, if you aren't using Lyft or
Uber yet, get on the bandwagon, so easy, so cheap and such a lifesaver!
First stop was
The Cheese Shop which was perfect for a rainy afternoon. Wine, appetizers in an adorable quaint little place with two dear friends! ❤ Word is that the Cheese Shop is opening a new bigger location in Des Moines.
In between the Cheese Shop was the Baby Shower which I have no pictures of, sorry Brad & Kelli!
After the shower it was on to more adventures and putting $50 on a card at the self serve wine bar,
Della Viti. So $50 might have been a bit much for two people at the self serve wine bar. But none the less we were able to watch KU get smoked out of the NCAA tourney & play a card game, which I don't recall what it was (probably due to the $50 self serve wine credit). As our credits were running out a certain somebody may have accidentally been pushing the button for the wine to come out before the glass was where it was supposed to be. But hey, I had a good time there and I can't wait to go back!
And who wouldn't be hungry after drinking several glasses of self serve wine? A short walk down the street to Zombie Burger for a midnight snack. I had been wanting to try
Zombie Burger and it did not disappoint. So good!
Some may be laughing at my recount to my Des Moines travels but what is that saying, Home is Where the Heart is. Home never felt so good and so fun exploring in my home state. Some of the coolest places are in the most unassuming spots! Life is what you make of it, where you make of it.
Iowa Nice.
PS. I also spent some time shopping and browsing at Valley Junction and came away with a few new cute spring decorations! No pictures but was really fun. Lots of great stores to pop in and out of.
