We met last night as a wrap up to the 3rd Annual MGA Walk Run and Roll. So exciting to think we now have 3 years under our belt. We've got some great ideas brewing and would love your help! If you or somebody you know would be interested in joining our volunteer planning committee please let us know. We are looking for PR and marketing people, event planners, fundraisers and race day operators! We will begin meeting again in July! Until then thanks again for a great event!

Urban Winery
My friend Ashley and I recently checked out the Amigoni Winery in downtown KC. Pretty cool place, unique set up, beautiful day, wine AND beer tastings. Check it out!
TGIF
I'm writing this post on a flight to Seattle! Can't wait to see my little brother and sweet Grace and cousin Lisa! TGIF!
What's the matter with Kansas?
So much!!! So much it is increasingly embarrassing. Half way thinking I should move about 2.5 miles east to Missouri. It all starts with our lovely Republican Governor Mr Sam Brownback. He's leading a strong campaign to officially privatize all Medicaid services in the state. This means that for profit insurance companies will be running the Medicaid programs.
In 2013 he began the roll out of Kancare. Three for profit insurance companies now over see the medical care of the clients I work with. This means that somebody probably sitting in a call center is making decisions about the lives of our states most vulnerable population. Makes me ill. In 2014 Kancare will begin the roll out of other Medicaid services such as case management, day and residential meaning that all the programs that local non for profits run could be overtaken by for profit insurance companies. Also means my job could be on the chopping block.
How one can take the states most vulnerable population and use them to cuts costs and basically be shoved down the drain is beyond me. Coupled with the fact that Mr Brownback toots himself as a devout Christian. Sounds pretty Christian to me there Sammy.
If you click this link you can sign a petition to keep I/DD Services out of Kancare and to protect those with developmental disabilities and special needs in the state of Kansas. You do not have to live in Kansas to show your support! http://signon.org/sign/carve-out-dd-from-kancare

I thought I was too young....
To get an aneurysm but turns out I am not! Actually I thought only old people got them but maybe they consider 33 old?! Not really. In all seriousness, you may already up to speed through my emails but in case you're not here's the deal. I asked the nurse at my last treatment if there was anything cosmetically I could have done to make my fistula port smaller. I had heard there was a surgery for this. She took a close look at my port (fistula port is where I get all my treatments through) and then consulted with another nurse. She came back and told me she felt I had an aneurysm in my port so the next week I met with the surgeon who put the port in and he confirmed I did in fact have an aneurysm however that it was not at risk to burst. Thank God! So on May 13th I'm going to have reconstructive surgery on my port where they will remove the aneurysm and clean it out. The great thing is the port should be a lot smaller. The risk is that it may not work as well as it has been and I'd have to get another fistula port somewhere in my body so I can continue to get treatments. This is going to call for a least a week off work for recovery, hopefully no more than that and I'll be able to resume all regular activity as quickly as possible. Any good book or movie or iPad applications for my recovery would be greatly appreciated. Oh yah, and ill take some prayers too. God bless!
Cha cha changes.....
I have a dear college friend who is living with me for awhile. He comes with a 4 legged friend who is a fireball of energy and spends her days racing around the back yard! Meet Boa......
Cork It
Last week I went to arts and crafts night at the Stone Pilar Winery in Olathe. While the wine is pretty much terrible it was a fun night regardless! They catered BBQ while we made beaded wine stoppers! So fun!

Back in the Swing
I had my first golf lesson in about 25 years on Friday! So much fun! I loved getting back to swing a club. I haven't golfed in about 2 years so I wasn't sure how it would go. Fun group of people and the smell of the pro shop brought back lots of good memories!! Ant wait for the next lesson.....

It's Been Awhile
Here we go again! I haven't blogged forever and I really do love writing! Good excuses and a lot of good projects and things to show for it. Really! They will all come in due time to your computer screen!
As I sit here and write it is hard to believe that year 3 of the Greater Kansas City Myasthenia Gravis Walk Run and Roll is under our belts! Whew! What a fun fun weekend! We have raised just under $25,000 and had around 230 participants. Waiting on some official numbers but so awesome! We partnered with the Iowa State Alumni Club in Kansas City for Cy's Day of Service which brought out of sea of cardinal and gold.
There are so many words of appreciation and gratitude I want to say but seems like I am at a loss on how to say that. There is nothing that I love more than seeing all of my family and friends come together to raise awareness for such an important cause. I had a blast and loved having everybody here. Thank you does not say enough!
In true fashion, I woke up this morning and thought what am I going to do now? I have taken the day off work to rest but instead have been filling my calendar and planning for the fun spring and summer months ahead! Lots of fun and adventures to be had and spending it with those I love most! Cheers and thank you again!
