"A" Dishes

My college friend Julia owns Spring City Vintage in Colfax, IA.  She also knows that I love monograms and initial type decor. So imagine the smile on my face when she posted these dishes on Instagram and let me know they were for sale. Not only did they have an "A" on them but they were gold rimmed. Thanks to my Dad for going and retrieving them for me!

An amazing Special Education Teacher lost her life last week to Colorectal cancer. She was 37 years old.  Diagnosed at 34. Can you believe that? The unthinkable. Three little kids.  I had the privilege of working with her when one of my individuals was in her class a couple of years before her diagnosis. Blue Apron

A dear friend of mine "gifted" me some Blue Apron meals. Apparently regular customers have free coupons they can pass along. I had my delivery the last week of February and was thoroughly impressed.  While different from Hello Fresh in that in comes all in a huge box and you have to sort which ingredient goes with what meal, I thought the meals were better. There is a Groupon right now for Blue Apron, definitely check it out!

Pretzel burgers were amazing! It was a chilly day to grill but loved the outcome!

The Shrimp Spaghetti was awesome! I ate this for about 4 meals. Who doesn't love shrimp?!

 I did not sign up to become a regular Blue Apron meals customer. Mostly due to cost. If I had more disposable income I would definitely be on board.  Was super fun to check it out though!

I Ate Broccoli

I had been seeing all over social media this recipe to slice up broccoli and roast it with sea salt and olive oil. So in a moment of deciding I should be "healthier" I tried it  So easy and tastes so good! I used Wildtree California Garlic Pepper Blead, Seat Salt and drizzled with olive oil. You put on a pan and roast for 20 minutes at 425 degrees. 

Cheap, easy and yummy!

Feel Good Friday- Love Necklace

I gave my Mama a very early Mother's Day gift. I had seen these necklaces on Pinterest and fell in love with the concept. Check out Lisa Leonard designs- good stuff. And she has a son with special needs- of course I want to support her work!

Pinterest Fail #100

There are all these lovely little recipes for making your house smell like Williams Sonoma on Facebook and Pinterest. Intrigued, I have now tried it twice and I can tell you my house just smells like burned spices. Major Pinterest fail. The first time didn't work because I thought I had fresh rosemary but really it was fresh thyme. Let's just be honest, fresh thyme smells like poo.  So second attempt, filled the pot with water, juice from a lemon, rosemary and vanilla and put it on simmer on the stove. Got engrossed in March Madness and there is a black smoke cloud forming in the living room. Now the house just smells like fire. Last time I checked Williams Sonoma did not smell like fire.....

Big 12's

Cyclones made a fast exit :( but it was 4 days chalk full of fun, friends, food, drinks and adventures. I'm getting too old and it has taken half the week to recover.

Hopefully the Cyclones have better luck dancing this week!

Gram and Dun Brunch

While out celebrating the Big 12 festivities we did brunch at Gram and Dun- that was a first for me. Um, their blood mary drink prep cart? Lovely idea! What a great place to take guests!
