Wordless Wednesday

I love brussel sprouts. Hated them as a kid but probably because they were mushy frozen blobs of green. Love them now especially when they are crisp and seasoned with salt.  I may have even helped a dear friend learn to like them? Wink wink Liz?! Anyhow, I had no idea this is how they came/grew/evolved until Thanksgiving when my sister pulled this creation out of the fridge! Learn something new everyday.....

Thankful Tuesday

After waking up yesterday to -10 degrees -20 with the windchill I started thinking about a beach trip.  I am slightly jealous that a large group of my KC friends who leave Friday to cruise the Caribbean! I mean who wouldn't be jealous. I was so bundled up going out this morning I thought I was going to tip over. We live in KC not North Dakota, right?  Anyhow, on this, thankful Tuesday, I am forever grateful for the beach trip my mama and I took two years ago to Aruba! Dreaming of going back.....

7 on 7

Last year my friend Andrea did a blog post on the 10th of every month, 10 pictures on the 10th documenting what she did that day. I loved that idea and because I like the number 7 I decided to do 7 pictures on the 7th every month! I apologize about the picture quality- gotta figure it out a little better. So anyway, here we go! 7 pictures from January 7, 2014.

1. Lunch date with one of my bestest co-workers Mary to a new spot- Pie Five- delish! And with a double chin like that I do not need to be eating anymore pizza. Good grief!
2. This is Bella. She's staying with us for a few weeks. This is BEFORE she destroyed the kleenex box! :)
3. 35 degrees- we will take that after -10 yesterday!
4. Book arrived from brother Clint, Live Life From the Heart by Mark Black- inspirational speaker talking about his challenges in life and dealing with a heart transplant. I saw him speak and he was awesome. Can't wait to read. Yes I said that, Mom! :)
5. A little Cyclone Basketball on TV.
6. A disgustingly dirty Jeep. I can't stand a dirty car and I hate it especially after snow.
7. I liked Sprouts on Facebook, a new fresh market opening tomorrow in Leawood so I got invited to their soft opening tonight. Cool little place, expensive but fun to shop there before it opens and with a 10% discount!

And I didn't forget about Thankful Tuesdays- I'll still be doing that. Hang tight!

Making Fun Doesn't Make Friends

My brother always says this and when I saw who was being hired for the new Offensive Line Coach at Iowa State I about swallowed all my pride. Oh dear. I sure made a lot of fun of him back in the day.  Fat jokes and all. I am not sure whether to laugh or cry.

As I said on Facebook, here's to hoping Mark Mangino can bring ISU football victories as big as he is......

Gift Worth Waiting For

I had seen this idea on Pinterest (of course) where you take a loved ones handwriting and have it made into a necklace. Last year on my birthday, my dad wrote something in my card which I will never forget! But because I don't like clutter I threw away the card.  I asked him to rewrite what he wrote and asked for it to be made into a necklace for Christmas! I am anxiously awaiting the necklace to arrive but will have to wait about 2 months as the lady on Etsy makes them all herself and had like 700 necklaces in front of mine. I am so excited because it will reflect two things I love, my dad and ISU football! Below is the sample featured on Esty that I had pinned and then the second picture is what will be on my necklace. Because my dad got to write it again we all determined this was the neatest handwriting of his we had ever seen! Watch for an update when I get my necklace!

Welcome 2014!

Not sure about the whole less soda part but thought this was a fantastic guide to begin the journey of 2014! I am enjoying my last day of vacay! I am kind of dreading going back to work. While I LOVE my job, I really do, I have thoroughly enjoyed almost two weeks of down time, family time, friend time, lots of naps and time to get in a work out each day.  As we shift into the new year I hope I can keep some of this routine going! Cheers and hope to see you all soon!
